When you grow up by the sea, where Chiara the maker comes from you quickly learn that it gives back everything it gets from us. Collecting waste materials at the beach is the best course in sustainability one could ever apply to and this was her beginning. The sea in her Italian hometown taught her to care. Protecting our environment has become her mission since she can remember. After graduating in London in International Business focused on sustainability, she opened an events management company promoting biodiversity and helped develop a cruelty-free fashion startup. This was when she felt the urge to keep reaching more and more people, not just those around her and started studying leather alternatives and eco-friendly materials, this is how Unfold was born, an experimental fashion accessories specialised in creating eco-friendly carry accessories crafted with jacron paper. This particular material is a kind of kraft paper which has fantastic durability properties, isn’t afraid of water, it is machine washable, biodegradable and it’s made with 100% renewable cellulose polymer, this means products are recyclable and vegan-friendly. Yes, Unfold is a fashion brand. But what drives it is caring about the world we live in. Because when you take scraps and up-cycle them, instead of leaving waste behind, you leave beauty.
